Please note that an AR-compatible handset is required. If you do not have a compatible device, please contact schools@digbyandbeattie.co.uk to check availability to borrow a rental device to experience the trail.

Get Active!

The best thing about this AR Trail is that you can walk the trail in one go or take you time and visit each character over several days or weeks. There is no time limit on when you must finish the trail. Although we’re sure your children will want to get their hands on their free prize fairly quickly!

Why not take the fun home with you. 

We have created a fun DiGBY and Beattie’s activity pack that your children can do at home. The pack comes with a map of the trail, the characters stanzas and a template where your child can draw their favourite character.

About the Project

DiGBY and Beattie’s Adventure Trail is an exciting new Augmented Reality (AR) experience featuring nine unique characters and social themes to engage and educate, while promoting a deeper connection with the town’s rich heritage and dynamic community life.

This is the second AR experience created by Digital Ipswich, a Town’s Fund project from Ipswich Borough Council which uses capital funds to create engaging digital projects that include ten AR Trails.

Following a public consultation in December 2023, where the community was encouraged to share ideas, themes, and suggestions for future trails, we’re pleased to confirm that more fun, exciting and inclusive trails will be launched later this year and in 2025.

DiGBY and Beattie’s AR Adventure Trail is part of a wider legacy of the Beat the Street Ipswich programme from earlier this year, funded by Suffolk County Council. Beat the Street proved hugely successful in getting Ipswich walking, cycling and scooting, with nearly 11,000 players covering over 68,000 miles and tapping beatboxes across Ipswich 233,233 times.
